How to use the chart
- If you know your foot length, choose foot length in the finder and enter it. The finder highlights the first size that is long enough.
- If you know your size in one system, choose that system and enter the size. The highlighted row shows the other systems.
- Compare the result with the size chart of the brand before you buy.
The first chart has one row for each US half size. The second chart has one row for each 5 mm of foot length, which is how Mondopoint and Japanese sizes are counted. Without JavaScript the finder is unavailable, but both charts are complete.
How the sizes are derived
Every value is calculated from foot length. The formulas come from the international technical specification for converting shoe sizes, ISO/TS 19407.
- UK size: foot length divided by 8.47 mm, plus 2, minus 25. The UK scale is the same for women and men.
- US women's size: the UK size plus 2.
- EU size: foot length divided by 6.67 mm, plus 2. EU sizes are the same for women and men.
- Mondopoint and Japanese sizes: the foot length itself, in millimetres or centimetres.
The 2 in the formulas is the room between the foot and the inside of the shoe. You do not need to add room yourself. Results are rounded to the nearest half size.
Worked example
Your longer foot measures 24.0 cm.
- UK: 240 divided by 8.47 is 28.34. Plus 2, minus 25, is 5.34.
- The next half size that is long enough is UK 5.5, which is calculated for a foot of 24.1 cm.
- US women's: 5.5 plus 2 is 7.5.
- EU: 241 divided by 6.67, plus 2, is 38.13, rounded to 38.
The finder gives the same row: US women's 7.5, UK 5.5, EU 38. In Japanese sizes, a foot of 24.0 cm takes 24.0.
Where charts disagree
The largest disagreement concerns US women's sizes. The formulas and the Brannock measuring device place them one size above US men's sizes, which is two above UK sizes. In the brand charts we checked, Nike and New Balance place them one and a half sizes above their men's sizes, and adidas one size.
Measured against UK sizes, the rows we read print a US women's size that is the UK size plus 1.5 at adidas, plus 2 at New Balance and plus 2.5 at Nike. If a shop lists both a UK or EU size and a US size, trust the pair that the brand itself publishes.
Common mistakes
- Measuring the shoe or the insole instead of the foot. The chart is based on foot length.
- Adding room before looking up the size. The room is already part of the formulas.
- Using a men's chart for a women's US size. UK and EU sizes are shared; US sizes are not.
- Measuring in the morning only. Feet become slightly larger during the day.
- Fitting the smaller foot. Most people have one foot slightly longer; fit that one.

The values in the chart are calculated from the definitions in the sources below. They are not copied from another chart. Last checked against the sources on September 28, 2026.
Sizes are calculated from foot length with the formulas of ISO/TS 19407:2015 and rounded to the nearest half size. The formulas were read in the 2015 edition, which has since been replaced by ISO 19407:2023; the tables of the current edition were not read.
US women's sizes are UK sizes plus two, as described in ISO/TS 19407:2015 and as drawn on the Brannock device. UK sizes are the same scale for women and men.
Some brands place US women's sizes 1.5 above US men's sizes instead of 1. In the brand charts checked, Nike and New Balance do; adidas uses 1.
Foot length is the length of the foot, not of the shoe or the insole. Brand charts differ from these values and from each other. Use the chart of the brand when you buy.
Used for: The formulas that give UK and EU sizes from foot length, the size steps of 8.47 mm and 6.67 mm, the allowance of two sizes between foot and last, and the usual offsets of US sizes from UK sizes.
Used for: The current edition of the conversion standard and its statement that its adult tables are a guideline. Its tables were not read.
Used for: US women's sizes lie one size above US men's sizes on the measuring device, and the position of the US children's scale. Read from the drawing, so approximate.
Used for: The barleycorn of one third of an inch, half sizes of one sixth of an inch, children's sizes that run to 13 before adult sizes restart at 1, and UK women's 5 being US women's 7.

- By the standard formulas a US women's 8 is a UK 6 and an EU 39, calculated for a foot of about 24.6 cm. Brand charts can differ by half a size or more.

- The UK scale is one scale: a UK 6 has the same length whether the shoe is sold to men or women. Width and shape depend on the model.

- Round up. The finder does this for foot lengths: it selects the first size that is calculated for a foot at least as long as yours.
- Which size do I choose in Japan?
- Japanese sizes state the foot length in centimetres. Measure your longer foot and choose the size equal to that length, or the next step of 0.5 cm above it.
