Bed and mattress sizes
A king size bed is a different size in almost every country. These pages give the measurements behind the names and say who published them.

Sizes are conventions
In none of the regions covered here did we find a law or a freely readable standard that fixes the nominal sizes of adult beds. The values come from industry associations, consumer organisations and manufacturers, and each page names them.
Finished mattresses deviate from their nominal size by one to two centimetres. Measure before you buy anything that has to fit exactly.
Not covered
Japan and bedding sizes such as duvets and sheets are not covered. The sources we found for them contradict each other, and a wrong chart is worse than none.
